Job Requirements

Responsible for maintaining the wine cellar (ordering, receiving and storage) and overseeing beer and liquor receiving and storage for one or more restaurants


  • Be able to work a variety of hours, days and shifts
  • Get along with others and be a team player
  • Order wine and receive wine, beer and liquor deliveries, accurately reading purchase orders and product invoices checking for accuracy, quality and safety
  • Maintain product quality and safety standards
  • Reject any product not meeting quality or safety standards, making note on the invoice
  • Store deliveries following storage and zoning procedures; update and develop new storage and zoning procedures as necessary
  • Inventory supplies and communicate needs to management, organize and clean cabinets, coolers and other storage areas in and around the cellar, and assist in maintaining the general cleanliness of the back of the house
  • Maintain professional relationships with purveyors while upholding the highest ethical standards and complying with all company policies and procedures
  • Attend internal and external wine seminars and wine tastings
  • Support/back-up sommelier with creation and maintenance of wine training materials and providing wine training and education to new and existing employees
  • Comply with all safety and sanitation (including handwashing) guidelines and procedures
  • Be proficient in the use and operation of all necessary tools and equipment, including the POS system
  • Follow all rules, policies, procedures and conditions of employment, including those outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Other duties, including supporting those of the Beverage Director, will be assigned as needed



  • Communicate in English in order to comprehend and perform/follow job requirements in written and spoken direction
  • Perform more than one task at a time, calmly and effectively in an extremely busy and stressful work environment
  • Work in a confined, crowded space of variable noise and temperature levels
  • Lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Safely and effectively use and operate all necessary tools and equipment
  • Be able to stand and walk for an entire shift, including moving safely through all areas of the restaurant, which may include stairs, uneven and slick surfaces
