We are looking for a bilingual WORKERS’ COMPENSATION MANAGER to maintain and develop our Workers’ Comp program. This position will be a part of our Risk Management team which currently supports 100+ restaurants in 8 states. As the Workers’ Compensation Manager, you’ll be ensuring compliance at all levels and acting as a liaison between employees, claimants, claim adjusters, medical providers and attorneys. Being able to work independently while managing multiple priorities is a must.

  • 2 years of workers’ compensation management experience (or degree certification and experience managing systems)
  • Strongly skilled in English and Spanish bilingual communication, written and verbal 
  • Skilled in analytical thinking as well as an empathetic communication style
  • Ability to remain highly organized and accurate while prioritizing multiple tasks 
  • Experienced with proficiently using online systems (tracking claims, benefits, etc.) and MS Word/Excel 
  • Availability for 5 – 10% travel to local and out-of-state locations

Job Summary
Maintain and develop the Workers’ Compensation program to ensure regulatory compliance and act as liaison between employees, claimants, claim adjusters, medical providers and attorneys using bilingual English/Spanish communications (written and verbal). 
Essential Functions
  • Maintain and develop all aspects of the Workers’ Compensation program to ensure federal, state and company compliance at store and corporate level
  • Act as liaison between employees, claimants, claim adjusters, medical providers and attorneys, using bilingual English/Spanish language skills (written and verbal) as needed
  • Assist injured employees as needed including but not limited to care, billing, return to work status, and temporary total disability (TTD) payments coordinating with carriers and store management
  • Communicate with care providers and insurance carriers as needed including but not limited to work authorizations, billing, and coordinating medical documentation 
  • Accurately use internal tracking system including but not limited to creating electronic files; daily review of incident reports, medical information and claims; filing adjustments; and audits of workers’ compensation reporting
  • Maintain and develop Loss Prevention program including but not limited to cost analysis; developing and expediting equipment training programs; and directing the efforts of claim administrators to coordinate with restaurant management
  • Expedite and participate in Workers’ Compensation audits at the company, state and federal level including but not limited to Occupational, Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) annual audits and completing and filing the OSHA 300 log
  • Initiate and maintain Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) records including but not limited to completing FMLA applications for employees as needed and coordinating medical documentation
  • Initiate and authorize investigations and provide detailed information to lawyers and insurance carriers as needed 
  • Monitor and assist management with correcting compliance issues including but not limited to providing reporting procedures for work-related injuries
  • Provide periodic and annual analysis of network providers’ performance relating to Workers’ Compensation issues 
  • Work with insurance carrier to coordinate periodic review of care facilities and ensure best rates
  • Coordinate with Human Resources regarding employment issues including but not limited to FMLA-related cases 
  • Safely and effectively use and operate all necessary tools and office equipment 
  • Maintain availability to work a variety of days and shifts at local and out-of-state sites as needed
  • Ability to effectively communicate in order to perform and follow job requirements in written and spoken direction
  • Ability to multitask calmly and effectively in a busy, stressful environment 
  • Work in a confined, crowded space of variable light, noise and temperature levels
  • Ability to move and lift up to 10 pounds, frequently move and/or lift up to 25 pounds, and occasionally move and/or lift up to 50 pounds
Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Coordination of care of injured workers and claim administration 
  • Assist restaurant management in formulating light duty assignments as needed 
  • Provide backup for other Benefits and Risk Management tasks as directed
  • Proficiency in the use and operation of all necessary tools and equipment including MS Word and Excel 
  • Follow all rules, policies, procedures and conditions of employment, including those outlined in the Employee Handbook 
  • Get along well with others and act as a team player
