Lettuce Entertain You Restaurants is seeking a Network Administrator to be part of our IT team which supports 100+ onsite and offsite locations in 8 states. We’re looking for an organized, experienced Network Administrator to maintain efficient and secure network operation by identifying network requirements; install upgrades; monitor network performance to identify issues needing repair; and support team members and external clients.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience 
  • Ability to install network hardware and software components
  • Knowledge of network protocols/systems, and backup/recovery software and methodologies
  • Experience with configuring/maintaining firewalls
  • Experience with monitoring server infrastructure (wireless, wired & remote-access)
  • Possess a BSc in Computer Science or related field
  • Ability to lift computer equipment
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • A+ Certification, Network+ Certification, Cisco CCNA, Cisco CCNP, VMware Certified Professional
     
NOTE: The Network Administrator will be based out of the Morton Grove and Chicago offices with 25% travel (local city, suburban and out-of-state). Flexibility with scheduling is a must, including weekend on-call availability.

Job Summary

Maintains efficient and secure network operation by identifying network requirements; installing upgrades; monitoring network performance to identify issues needing repair; and supporting internal team members and external clients.
 
Essential Functions
 
  • Ensure network security, reliability, connectivity and efficiency by monitoring network performance, testing for weaknesses, troubleshooting system failures 
  • Inspect local area network (LAN) infrastructure including wireless, wired and remote access and fix all problems/bugs 
  • Identify, evaluate and install updates for network and server equipment 
  • Support and maintain all internet service providers 
  • Support and maintain all private branch exchange phone systems and assist with upgrades 
  • Identify through testing and troubleshooting any needed repairs for software and hardware issues, and plan repairs with Network Operation Manager 
  • Install network hardware and software components
  • Safely and effectively use and operate all necessary tools and office equipment 
  • Maintain availability to work a variety of days and shifts (including weekends and nights) at local and out-of-state sites as needed
  • Ability to effectively communicate in order to perform and follow job requirements in written and spoken direction
  • Ability to multitask calmly and effectively in a busy, stressful environment 
  • Work in a confined, crowded space of variable light, noise and temperature levels
  • Ability to move and lift up to 10 pounds, frequently move and/or lift up to 25 pounds, and occasionally move and/or lift up to 50 pounds
     
Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Define, document and update network policies, processes and procedures 
  • Specify system requirements and design solutions 
  • Identify and recommend improvements to network performance through testing, evaluating and researching 
  • Lead specific projects (for example, upgrading hardware) as needed
  • Maintain current knowledge of: network protocols and systems; best practices regarding management control and monitoring of server infrastructure (including wireless, wired and remote access); back/recovery software and methodologies; and current certifications (A+, Network+, Cisco CCNA, Cisco CCNP, VMware Certified Professional)
  • Proficiency in the use and operation of all necessary tools and equipment including MS Word and Excel
  • Follow all rules, policies, procedures and conditions of employment, including those outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Get along well with others and act as a team player
  • Other duties assigned as needed
