  • 1 year of Sommelier experience
  • Ability to purchase wine and manage inventory
  • Skilled in impeccable wine service and sharing wine knowledge (including all wine growing areas) with guests and service staff
  • Possess exceptional floor presence: polished, gracious, professional
  • PM Availability with some AM flexibility


  • Sommelier certification from WSET, Court of Masters, or ISG
  • High-level fine dining experience

Job Requirements

Responsible for the selling and serving of bottled wine. A Sommelier will possess a current Sommelier certification.


  • Be able to work a variety of hours, days and shifts, including weekends
  • Get along with others and be a team player
  • Be genuinely committed to ensuring the overall guest experience exceeds expectations, including greeting guests with a warm, sincere smile and anticipating their needs
  • Use tact and good judgment when dealing with guest challenges, responding to guest needs with patience and courtesy
  • Follow all steps of service
  • Develop the wine menu for the restaurant
  • Coordinate all ordering of wine for the restaurant
  • Maintain professional relationships with purveyors, and must not accept gifts or cash in return for wine or liquor orders
  • Account for and maintain the security of all wine inventories and restock wines used in proper cabinets and/or wine coolers
  • Organize the wine and liquor storage areas and read and identify wines by using labels
  • Accurately account for and balance all sales and receipts
  • Be knowledgeable of all menu items, and be able to develop wine pairings
  • Work with Captains/Servers to visit tables to present suggested wines
  • Follow proper wine service procedures
  • Act as a lead for the Wine Runner position
  • Attend wine seminars on a regular basis
  • Provide wine education and training to new and existing employees
  • Update wine training materials
  • Assist Maitre d’/host with greeting and seating of guests if needed
  • Conduct wine tastings
  • Do not over serve guests, and seek out management immediately with any concerns about a guest who may appear to be intoxicated
  • Assist servers and cocktail servers with selling, opening and serving wine
  • Check back with tables which have ordered wine
  • Accurately account for and inventory all wine sales for the shift
  • Understand and follow the food allergy procedure and special orders/restrictions
  • Comply with all safety and sanitation (including handwashing) guidelines and procedures
  • Be proficient in the use and operation of all necessary tools and equipment, including the POS system
  • Successfully complete alcohol awareness training
  • Follow all rules, policies, procedures and conditions of employment, including those outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Other duties will be assigned as needed


  • Communicate in English in order to comprehend and perform/follow job requirements in written and spoken direction
  • Perform more than one task at a time, calmly and effectively in an extremely busy and stressful work environment
  • Work in a confined, crowded space of variable noise and temperature levels
  • Lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Safely and effectively use and operate all necessary tools and equipment
  • Be able to stand and walk for an entire shift, including moving safely through all areas of the restaurant, which may include stairs, uneven and slick surfaces
